Robinson Helicopter Company is increasing the R44 overhaul interval to:
15 years / 2,500 hours
(previously 12 years / 2,200 hours)
This is one of the most important updates for R44 owners in years.
The increase from 2,200 to 2,500 hours is a meaningful gain for operators, allowing more usable flight time before overhaul. At the same time, the extension from 12 to 15 years is a significant value increase, particularly for private owners who may not reach hourly limits as quickly.
What This Means for Owners
- Longer usable life
- Improved resale value
- Lower cost per hour
Where Things Stand
Robinson is still finalizing which components will qualify for the extended limits and how far back this change will apply to existing aircraft.
There is currently no confirmed cutoff year, as this depends on engineering and certification requirements.
Robinson is actively working through this and is targeting implementation by the end of this year, with further details to follow.
